Our Books
FSO Professional Development Gap Identified
Have you noticed the lack of books for security specialists and FSO Professional Development? Sure, you can find books on security and loss prevention, but they do not tackle the tough NISPOM and FSO requirements.
We noticed it too. Consequently, we began filling the gap with impactful books that teach you skills that you can apply immediately.
Our books are great for FSOs who want to read and learn how to build compliant programs and sharpen their skills. Consequently, our books demonstrate how FSOs can implement NISPOM in their organizations.
Additionally, there is not one place you can go to for NISPOM compliance and FSO professional development books; until now. Consequently, we noticed that NISPOM requirements, compliance guidance and training reside in many hard to find and diverse locations.
Some resources are available from government or professional organization websites that require memberships and that’s a disadvantage for many. So we have created a place where you can learn without “paying dues”.

The FSO Workbook
Why use the FSO Workbook
The FSO Workbook is an organized set of folders with products that FSO use daily. Keep reading or scroll for a comprehensive list of items.
The FSO Workbook achieves these objectives:
- Organized way to execute daily FSO tasks with sorted folders
- Foundation for demonstrating NISPOM compliance with documented artifacts including facility organization, memos, forms, policies and training
- Methodology and source material for self-inspection success
- Ability to review artifacts and demonstrate or “show your work” during DCSA Security Reviews
- Be more effective by using form templates, policy structure and tools; limiting reliance on email
We have provided what FSOs need at any phase of existence from sponsorship forward.
For facilities awaiting clearances, this FSO Workbook provides your blueprint you need to answer sponsorship requirements before they are due to DCSA.
If you already have your FCL, this product helps you stay organized. For example, artifacts such as forms and requests can be used to populate NISS, DISS and NBIS databases. Or download from these databases data to store as compliance artifacts.
FSOs spend a good deal of their time on DCSA databases, the FSO Workbook liaisons between the facility and the databases.
Many cleared companies may be at a disadvantage, lacking training presentations, policies and other documents. The FSO Workbook can help fill that gap. Basically everything an FSO needs to perform daily tasks and file in an organized manor. Download our files, tailor to your situation and apply to your security program.
For legacy FSOs with already established FCLs, this folder structure provides an organized way to maintain your records and my boost your efficiency. FSOs should live daily in the FSO Workbook.
How to Use the FSO Workbook
Many FSOs manage their programs with their version of an FSO Workbook. Consequently, they have sailed through DCSA security reviews.
It is a great method to manage your program. If you do not have an FSO Workbook or need assistance with your current workbook, its time to get started.

Our Lead Trainer: Jeffrey Bennett
FSO Professional Development; The Beginning
When Jeff began working as a Facility Security Officer, there were few resources learning how to become an FSO. Furthermore, while he had great mentors, there wasn’t much available for his FSO professional development opportunities. Someone recommended that he download the NISPOM and read it. Though that was a great start, it did little to prepare him for the work ahead.
Fortunately, he was able to work under a mentor who helped him to navigate the career until he could stand on his own. Once he became proficient in the career, he began to mentor others. That led to a career as an FSO and NISPOM compliance consultant.
Jeff also began writing books, training and tools for FSOs and key management persons. His professional development program is now live on NISPOM Central.
Here’s the rest of the story
While he spent time reading the NISPOM, he received on the job direction from experts. he also bought a lot of books about security. Though he couldn’t find any books about NISPOM, but there were articles and other books (outside of industrial security) on security, risk management, cybersecurity that would teach how to protect important assets. These books taught skills similar to what could be applied in the FSO field.
Since there were no NISPOM books and he had to go outside of the community to get books and resources, he decided to write and publish books specifically about the NISPOM and for FSOs. To this day, those outside of the defense contractor industry have no access to FSO job tracking. Jeff sees his mission as filling the gap in education and opportunity.
These resources have stood the test of time through various updates and NISPOM changes.
These are invaluable resources to have at my fingertips and I’m grateful I now have a source for quality, printed material. It’s well worth it.
